What is the Prva Liga?
The Pvra Liga is the top club competition in Croatian football, a 10-team league founded in 1992. The league is adjudged by the powers that be to be the 17th strongest in the world, ahead of Poland’s Ekstraklasa and just behind Austria’s Bundesliga.
You’d be forgiven for only being able to name one Croatian team. Such has been the dominance of Dinamo Zagreb – who have won every single league title since the 2005-06 season – with Hajduk Split and Rijeka battling it out for second place.
Dinamo’s ‘B’ team are quickly growing, and currently play in the Croatian second division. Questions of corruption surround the club, though, with all decisions seeming to suit the capital’s prized club.

Why we love the Prva LIga
The Croatian league has to be one of the most predictable in European football with regard to its winner. Matches outside of the top two or three clubs are competitive, though.
Hajduk Split are the only other team to have won the competition more than once, with six titles. Zagreb’s 18 league triumphs, one would think, will continue to dwarf a league stunted by a huge gulf in quality. Any bet placed on the giants winning the league would almost certainly see an (albeit limited) return.
