Code of Conduct

We want everyone using this site to feel welcome and safe at all times. With this in mind we have written up a Code of Conduct, which is a document outlining the standards and responsibilities all users of this site must keep to.

Hopefully you will find this document sensible and reassuring. If you have any questions there are contact details at the bottom.

Our Pledge

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as users and staff pledge to making participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our Standards

We want to set high standards for our community because we feel it will make it a better place for everyone if we do.

Examples of behaviour that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism of any comments you make on the site
  • Focusing on what is best for the community
  • Showing empathy towards other community members

Examples of unacceptable behaviour by participants include:

  • The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission

Our Responsibilities

Staff and moderators of The Footy Tipster are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behaviour and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behaviour.

Staff and moderators of The Footy Tipster have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments or other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any user for other behaviours that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Commenting

Because of the live nature of the commenting on The Footy Tipster, it is not possible for us to review and/or confirm the accuracy or validity of a message before it is posted.

When an opinion-based discussion starts (as it often the case with football betting), do not state things as if your opinion is the only one or the only one that matters. When someone has clearly stated their opinion, do not flame them for it.

This is a friendly community for serious football bettors. Allow people to have their opinion and by all means share yours, so long as both are done in a respectful way.

We apply the same standard of review for all content, there is no favour shown between free members and paid members.

Please read the Enforcement of this Code of Conduct section for information on reporting abuse found in comments.

Scope of this Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct applies both within this website and anywhere else online or in public spaces when an someone is representing The Footy Tipster.

Examples of representing The Footy Tipster include using an official project e-mail address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.

Enforcement of this Code of Conduct

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behaviour may be reported by contacting Toby. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The Footy Tipster is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.

Staff or users who do not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith may face temporary or permanent repercussions as determined by other members of The Footy Tipster.
