Today’s free tip is in the German Bundesliga 2 encounter between SV Sandhausen and Union Berlin.
Although most Bundesliga 2 games tend to be quite entertaining, I am expecting this one to be a bit of an exception. Both of them tend to prioritise their organisation over anything else so this could turn out to be a shrewd and calculating affair.
My interest lies in backing the visitors though. I don’t doubt SV Sandhausen’s defensive capabilities but they’re so damn limited in attack that I find it really hard to believe that they’ll find a way to beat Union Berlin today unless they score a lucky goal. It’s not like the hosts don’t create chances either – they just don’t take them. This was a problem for them last season, and it’s still going to be an issue for them this season too. They’ve not done enough to prepare for this season in that respect, and now they’re up against a very solid Union Berlin so yeah, I just don’t think they’re going to get a win here.
By contrast Union Berlin’s tactical approach is not only strong but they find ways to score goals. At the moment, replacing Skrzybski with Andersson appears to be paying a huge dividend with the Swede having bagged three in three games now alongside his fellow countryman, Hedlund. With Kroo, Promel, Gogia, and Redondo supporting them, Union Berlin have a very solid and consistent setup. As long as they don’t lose their heads as they did in their 4-2 win against St. Pauli (not many teams will cave like that against them) then they should be able to get something from this game, mostly like a win.
Therefore, I’m going to roll with the away win with draw no bet cover.
Verdict: Union Berlin to win with draw no bet at 9/10.
