Today’s secondary featured game is the Eredivisie encounter between ADO Den Haag and Heracles Almelo. Both sides had good results ahead of this game so confidence should be high in both camps.

ADO Den Haag have struggled this season and it’s no surprise with influential boss van der Brom having moved to Vitesse Arnhem pre-season. ADO have also had injury problems with the Verhoeks frequently out. However, they do have good attacking players and they’ve actually picked up a lot of form lately. They’ve conceded in just one out of their last four Eredivise home games and have won three of those games, drawing the other 2-2 with FC Utrecht. Their 3-0 win against NAC Breda was unexpected and impressive so I expect to see a good display from ADO Den Haag tonight. There’s plenty of firepower in this squad and with their ever-galvanising displays at home, I think it’s time that we should take this side seriously again. True enough, they’re no world-beaters and chances are that they’ll never see the dizzying heights of last season ever again but they work hard and they are a threat so I fancy them tonight.

My tip is aided by the fact that Heracles Almelo are utterly incapable of playing well away from home. Their sole away win this season came at rock-bottom Excelsior Rotterdam, who are frankly all but relegated. Heracles play their home games on artificial turf, which is partially why they’re so strong at home and weak away from home. You may also be interested to know that Excelsior Rotterdam use artificial turf at their stadium so Heracles haven’t won a game this season on natural turf. Their 7-0 demolition of VVV Venlo last match was unexpected but not impossible as VVV go from the sublime to the ridiculous in a nano-second. Heracles are not an easy side to beat at home but away from home, they simply look very vulnerable, especially at the back, and I think they’ll find this trip difficult with the hosts looking rather rejuvenated at the moment.

For me, the odds on the home win are a little too generous here. Nothing is cut and dried between these two sides but ADO Den Haag have a slight edge that I think needs to be taken into account here. I think there’s value in taking the home win for this game with draw no bet cover as I simply cannot envision Heracles claiming a rare away victory here with the firepower that the hosts have at their disposal.

Verdict: ADO Den Haag to win with draw no bet at 4/5.
