Another Feast Of Goals!
FreeSunday happily brought us lots of goals and various stupid results. However, potentially the most stupid results of the day lie with Sparta Prague for somehow losing 4-3 to Bohemians Prague (who actually had 10 men for the majority of the game) and Espanyol for somehow giving away the lead and losing 4-3 at home to Numancia. Football is indeed a strange mistress.
Just a quick comment on International call-ups too – I’ve seen that Michael Mancienne and Fernando Llorente have been called up to play for England and Spain in their respective mid-week friendlies. Mancienne has been decidedly unconvincing in his performances, having only just signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan from Chelsea. I don’t know why he’s been called up, to be frank, although fair play for giving the youngsters a chance I suppose. Fernando Llorente’s call-up isn’t a surprise, but it is a concern as an Athletic Bilbao fan. I’m proud of the striker because he’s bloody good in all aspects of being a striker and could well become world-class one day but if Spain cap him against Chile, then it’s almost inevitable that one of the “bigger” Spanish sides will buy him and Athletic really aren’t in a position to cope without him. If they lose him, they will be relegated, no question.
