Fair play to Hull City – what a magnificent start to the season. For a side with few recognisable names to pull off some frankly ridiculous results can only bear testatment to the tactical genius that is their manager Phil Brown. However, his tactical genius will be well and truly tested when he takes on the mighty Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford over the coming fortnight.

Speaking of Old Trafford – I was there on saturday to watch the demolition of West Bromwich Albion. The result was perhaps a little harsh on them, as they played very well, but this is what can happen when you take on a side that is better than you and you try to play football against them. I have the utmost respect for them for trying but perhaps it’s not the best place to attempt to play football!

Aside from that, it wasn’t the best time for my teams despite Dynamo Kiev’s utter annihlation of Zorya Lugansk on friday night with a scoreline of 5-0. Athletic Bilbao slumped to a 1-0 defeat against rivals Barcelona to exemplify a truly miserable start to the season for Los Leones. Elsewhere, RoPS suffered an embarrasing home defeat against VPS, losing 1-0. It was also a shame to see River Plate lose in arguably one of the most prestigious derbies in the world at home to Boca Juniors, which also finished 1-0.
