Braga
FreeIt’s time for us to sit back and appreciate Braga. This Portuguese outfit isn’t much known on the European stage – not yet, at least. However, it surely can’t be too long before they are! They have one of the best defences in Portugal currently and they’re consistently a foe to be reckoned with. They’ve also dumped out Standard de Liege in the UEFA Cup as well as keeping a clean sheet in Paris last week. They’re not considered part of the big three in Portugal, which is naturally Porto, SL Benfica and Sporting Clube de Lisbon. That said, SL Benfica have been faltering for some years now, Sporting are on the descendancy so there’s only really Porto left flying the flag. There could well be a shake-up in the Portuguese Liga if this trend continues and who could protest at that? It may even spice up this generally predictable league somewhat!
