Champions League Draw

Manchester United vs Porto
Villarreal vs Arsenal
Liverpool vs Chelsea
Barcelona vs Bayern Munich
Thoughts on these ties and the eventual winners of each? I’ll list mine below.
I do expect Manchester United and Barcelona to be in the semi-finals of the Champions League purely because they’re facing opposition that aren’t as good as they are. People have gotten carried away by Bayern’s emphatic victory over a dreadful Sporting Clube de Lisbon and Manchester United’s recent slump in form, but at the end of the day, when the sides get down to it, they should be too good for their opponents. The other games are decidedly more difficult, however. Villarreal vs Arsenal should be a fascinating encounter as they’re sort of the equivilant of each other from their respective leagues i.e. the side that likes to come forth, be out of form most of the season but still be there at the end and consistently try to play good football. If Arsenal play as well as they’re capable of doing, they should have enough to despatch the Spaniards, but looking at their last performance against Roma, you have to be concerned by that. We don’t want Villarreal through though; if I have to watch one more 0-0 draw between them and Manchester United then I might just end my life! Last but least, we have the familiar fixture of Liverpool vs Chelsea. What’s going to happen in this game? Who knows? In my opinion, Chelsea are the better side but Liverpool have really got the bit between their teeth at the minute. It’ll be tight but I just think Chelsea might edge it, perhaps spurred on by their defeat in the final last year.
