Liga de Honra Betting Tips

Liga de Honra?

The Liga de Honra – known as the LigaPro or Segunda Liga – is Portugal’s second-tier of domestic club football, with 22 sides competing for promotion to the Primeira Liga.

The top two sides are promoted a the end of every season, with the bottom four sides relegated to the Campeonato de Portugal.

Founded in 1990, the league has undergone a series of name changes and is now referred to as the Ledman LigaPro for sponsorship reasons. Prior to 1990, the Segunda Divisão was regional, and the Primeira Liga was the only nationwide football league.

B teams are permitted in Portuguese football, with Benfica II, Sporting Braga II, Porto II and Sporting CP II all featuring in the LigaPro. These teams cannot be promoted to the Primeira Liga but can face relegation to the Campeonato de Portugal.
