Russian Premier League Betting Tips

We’ve been providing top quality Russian Premier League betting tips since we started the site, hopefully you enjoy our writeup of the competition and some of the value we can provide you.

Russian Premier League?

The Russian Premier League is the country’s top tier of club football. The 16-team competition was founded in 2001 and operates on a promotion/relegation system with the Football National League.

The top two teams in the league are awarded entry into the following season’s Champions League, with the third and fourth-placed sides given Europa League spots.

Up until the 2012-13 season the league ran from March to November to avoid matches being played in the harsh conditions of Russian winter. The new autumn-spring league includes a three-month break from December to March to mitigate the effects of the weather.

Russia is currently seventh in the UEFA rankings, just behind Portugal and France and slightly ahead of Ukraine.

Why we love it

Despite being home to some fairly good sides in CSKA Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg, the Russian Premier League is one of the most bland leagues we cover.

The competition is extremely tactical and therefore lacks fluidity. Compared to the likes of the Premier League, goals are at a premium.

Though some teams are working their ways towards being entertaining, like the Czech Synot Liga, the league’s on a knife edge as to whether it can become genuinely interesting or not.
