Dynamo Kiev vs Shakhtar Donetsk
FreeThis fixture has become more than commonplace this season with the two sides having met twice in the UEFA Cup Semi-Finals, once in the league, and having met in the Ukrainian Cup Semi-Final, in which Shakhtar Donetsk triumphed. Both sides have claimed their share of the spoils this season. Dynamo Kiev boast the league title, and di so with great gusto, having won with many games to spare. Their opponents today, Shakhtar Donetsk, claim 2nd place and surrender their crown to Dynamo Kiev. However, in its place now lies the UEFA Cup, having overcame their bitter rivals Dynamo Kiev in the Semi-Finals before overcoming Werder Bremen of Germany in the final. Since then, both sides claimed relatively redundant victories over Tavriya Simferopol and Lviv respectively.
Despite winning the title, you can sense that Dynamo Kiev will be hurting from their defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in not one but two competitions, especially in the knowledge that they could and should have won the first leg of their UEFA Cup clash. Although Dynamo Kiev don’t really have anything left to play for, I suspect that Dynamo Kiev will have the extra incentive to win this game due to the above reasons. I can’t see Shakhtar Donetsk being overly concerned about this game as I daresay their focus will be on the Ukrainian Cup Final in the forthcoming weekend against Vorskla Poltava. There’s little between the two sides in terms of quality but for the above reasons, I’m going to call a 2-0 victory for the hosts with Dynamo Kiev talisman Artem Milevskiy to score at any time during this game on his return from suspension. I wouldn’t play the card game with this fixture as there shouldn’t be too many excessive tempers on show and I expect Shakhtar Donetsk to rest a few players.
Incidentally, I don’t know if the Ukrainian police use today’s fixtures as a test of their strength, but the Ukrainian FA must have had some kind of “brown envelope” if so, being as there are at least three derbies/rivalries being played out today!

Ok, my favourite bet of today includes Dynamo Kiev, Trans Narva, Kongsvinger and Suduva Marijampole.
The only other bet today that intrigues me is a 6-team accumulator (or two trebles depending on the individual) including Metalist Kharkiv, Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk, Vetra Vilnius, Ekranas Panevezys, Tulevik Viljandi and Super Reds.
