FH Hafnarfjordur vs Keflavik
FreeToday’s game is in the Icelandic Landsbankadeild Karla and features my seemingly favourite side FH Hafnarfjordur and the side that is seen as their main threat to the title this year – Keflavik. However, it’s going to take something monumental to dislodge reigning champions FH Hafnarfjordur from their perch after a massively impressive run of form that has seen them demolish just about everyone – barring Keflavik. Keflavik are the only side to beat them this season and that was their opening game of the season (Some opening game! The Icelandic FA must have had a laugh making that one up!). However, since then, FH Hafnarfjordur have gone on a massive run of successes and Keflavik, despite their high league placing, having been somewhat hit-and-miss. Both sides have their respective European committments but FH Hafnarfjordur are still the daddies here and I thoroughly expect a home win here tonight. It may even be worth looking at a handicap here because the hosts really are playing that well.

SonderjyskE vs Randers – home win. The hosts have a fantastic chance to give themselves a flying start to the season after last season’s dismal campaign by taking on Randers, a side that already has committments in European competition. This game isn’t essential in Randers’ plans and they will almost certainly be resting players. SonderjyskE are well-rested and ready for the season so a home win here is a very realistic possibility.
Herfolge vs Silkeborg – away win with draw no bet. Interestingly enough, the visitors have the voodoo sign over Herfolge, having beaten them the last three times they’ve played them home or away. Their last victory came last season as both sides resided in the Danish First Division, where Silkeborg won 3-1. The visitors today were particularly impressive on the road last season and will look to maintain that trait. They’ve got a mental boost ahead of this game with the knowledge they’ve won this game before so an away win is quite probably although I would recommend taking this at draw no bet as both sides have just been promoted and neither has played a competitive game for some time.
KuPS Kuopio vs FC Lahti – away win. It’s no secret that KuPS Kuopio are the worst side in the Veikkausliiga and are somehow getting worse. I just can’t see any way out of the mire for the hosts today. They’re entertaining a haphazard FC Lahti that has committments in Europe and I still can’t see anything but an away win here. FC Lahti are a decent squad, good on their day but generally shouldn’t stand a chance of winning an away game in the Veikkausliiga with their second string but today I really feel they will because KuPS Kuopio are that bad! Take whatever odds you can get on this one!
Fjolnir Reykjavik vs KR Reykjavik – away win. After an impressive campaign in 2008 saw the hosts reach the final of the Icelandic Cup, they’ve started to descend rather rapidly. They’re currently fighting relegation – well, I say fighting in a very loose sense because it seems they’re doing very little of that – and don’t look to be escaping anytime soon. They’re entertaining heavyweights KR Reykjavik in a game that should be an away win before the whistle has been blown to start the game. All that a lacklustre Fjolnir Reykjavik can hope for is that KR Reykjavik’s European campaign has distracted them to a sufficient level whereby they can take at least a point from this game. However, I just can’t see it – the visitors have too much quality to not win this game today so I’d recommend taking the away win at whatever odds you can find!
