Despite my criticism of Wayne Rooney, he managed to come up with the goods by scoring the winner in the Manchester derby. It was a fair result – United dominated the game from start to finish, with City only really having one notable chance cleared off the line by Evra. If that didn’t make me happy enough already, Histon managed to overcome Leeds United in the English FA Cup – success! And if that wasn’t enough – Chelsea yet again emphasised their ability to crumble under pressure by losing 2-1 at home to Arsenal. Last but not least – even Athletic Bilbao won and climbed out of the bottom 3 in Spain! Football is a strange game sometimes, eh? I think I’ve had quite a good weekend prediction-wise so I’m quite pleased overall.

A quick shout-out goes to Real Valladolid in Spain, who have claimed yet another convincing win in their subtle ascent of the Spanish Primera Liga. This side have always been good on their own turf, but now they’re starting to take points on the road too so they’re very much worth keeping an eye on – potentially this season’s surprise package.
