Today’s featured game is between Brazilian goliaths Corinthians and haphazard Santos. The hosts are unbeaten in four games and have a very good home record with seven wins from eleven games. Interestingly, Santos have one of the better away records in the league when it comes to preventing opponents from beating them but I can’t see that lasting today due to the immense attacking power of Corinthians. A win for the hosts tonight would see them start to really trouble the leading pack and they’ll be hell-bent on achieving it. Santos will be lucky to get anything from this season, in my opinion. That said, they’re not going to roll over today so I expect quite a gritty encounter. However, as I said previously, Corinthians can outplay Santos if they turn up and I thoroughly expect them to if you consider their current form. Frankly, evens for the home win looks quite bizarre odds so I’m happy to take them!

Atletico Paranaense vs Botafogo – home win at 3/4. Hosts Atletico Paranaense tonight play out their first leg of their Copa Nissan Sudamericana tie with Botafogo. Both sides are struggling in Serie A and a cup run would do them both good. I can’t help but feel that Botafogo wouldn’t mind losing this game with the proviso that they managed to score. In the same breath, I can’t see Atletico Paranaense wanting to go to Botafogo needing a win with their dismal goalscoring on the road. Although it’s a seperate competition to the domestic league of both clubs, you can’t help but draw some conclusions from the statistics in this league. For instance, Atletico Paranaense have better momentum entering this game than Botafogo and also know they’re hosting a side that has won just once on the road this season. The home side has a decent home record and I expect them to make it count tonight. A home win at 3/4 could have some good value in it.
