It’s Been A Strange One
Freealthough far too many mishaps for my liking. The majority of games I encountered, particularly on sunday afternoon, were nothing but shit. For example, look at Dundee United getting annihlated 4-0 at home by Motherwell. This type of result is frankly something that could only happen once every 20 years or something – utterly bizarre. Hopefully you’ve been a little lucky like myself and still emerged with some funding.
Also, apologies for completely disregarding the Belgian Eerste Divisie on sunday – I’m not sure what came over me!
Hurrah as well – Bilbao were victorious over Valencia yet again with some bookies quoting 2/1 so I daresay that’s my call of the weekend. Hats off to Atalanta Bergamo also, a side who always has a place in my heart, for beating Internazionale to a pulp, 3-1 the scoreline! It was also pleasing to see veteran midfielder Cristiano Doni on the scoresheet as well – no doubt he’ll have enjoyed that.
I’m pleased to announce that today a prestigious tournament begins in South America, one that has launched the careers of countless stars. It’s the South American U20 Tournament, which is basically all the nations in South America vying their U20 talent against each other for one of four available places at Egypt’s 2009 U20 World Cup Finals. This particular year the tournament is held in Venezuela, which may well provide a home advantage that the Venezuelan U20 side will certainly require to overcome a frightening group containing Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The other group contains Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. The top 3 sides of each group compete in a 6-team group of which the top 4 sides qualify for the U20 World Cup. If you can find a bookmaker to give you odds on it, then I’d personally (and probably will) back the final 4 qualifying teams to be Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia.
