Liverpool vs Arsenal
FreeAlthough few people have realised it, Arsenal are the only opposition that can directly or indirectly alter the race for the English Premier League, being as they have to face Manchester United and Chelsea after this trip to Liverpool. It’s an interesting position for the side with little left to play for in the league, really.
In regards to the game though – what a game it should be! Liverpool have to throw everything they’ve got at Arsenal because they have to win every game left to pile the pressure on Manchester United. If they fail to do so, even once, I suspect their season may be a complete failure despite early promise. Arsenal, however, seem to really enjoy the role of God sometimes. They also have a rather interesting record of having never lost to Liverpool in the league since 2007. In fact, the last three encounters in the league between these two sides have ended 1-1 and I suspect the same scoreline may be present tonight. Arsenal haven’t lost in 19 league games now and Liverpool will have a mighty task ahead of them to end the run. However, records are there to be broken, and as I said earlier, Liverpool do need to win this game. I expect a close affair as Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 5 league games also. I’m going to stick with the traditional 1-1 scoreline for this game; Arsenal to score first and Liverpool to equalise. A penalty in this game wouldn’t surprise me either so if you’re backing a goalscorer, aim for the penalty takers.
