Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, all! I’m not a religious man myself – pretty vehemently anti-religion, truth be told – but I still love Christmas. I was always raised to value it and I do even now. Fuck the reasoning behind it; it’s just nice to see people smiling and being able to walk down the street without as much fear that you’ll get mugged and/or killed. So sit back, have a few beers, and give tomorrow’s games a bit of your time as there looks to be some tasty ones!

Incidentally, I’d like to apologise for yesterday. I insinuated that Internazionale had made a good decision by sacking Benitez at this time of year, which I’d still agree with. However, that led me to believe that Internazionale were being smart about the whole thing and that they’d make a wise appointment…which they didn’t. They’ve actually gone for one of the worst options that they could have by appointing ex-Brazilian international Leonardo as their new manager. Can you imagine Moratti unveiling him to the backroom staff?

“So – Leonardo is the new manager – any questions?”
“What – inexperienced Leonardo? The one who has only managed in a brief spell in management before now?”
“Yes, that Leonardo!”
“The Leonardo that was at our bitter rivals AC Milan?”
“Yes, that Leonardo!”
“The Leonardo that has only won Serie A once (1999) and the Coppa Italian once (2003) as a player?”
“Yes, that Leonardo!”
“Is it worth pointing out that those two trophies are the only two that he’s ever won on this side of the Atlantic Ocean?”
“Shut up, Andrea! It’s a good move, I tell you!”

Or something like that.

I’ve nothing against Leonardo. Indeed, he seems to be one of the more sane Brazilians in that he’s not a samba bastard and he actually managed to finish his football career as a player without crying and going to another continent at twenty-eight because he was too fat or lazy to continue, unlike most Brazilians nowadays. Leonardo was a good and loyal player and seems a really genuine guy too. However, the afore-mentioned doesn’t make him a good manager and I’m fairly confident he’ll be waving goodbye to the San Siro for the second time within the next twelve months.
