Midtylland vs SonderjyskE

Free

Today’s featured game is the Danish Superligaen encounter between Midtylland and SonderjyskE. Midtylland have had a poor season by their standards but look to be making good progress following their return from the winter break. Visitors SonderjyskE have struggled to stay in this division for a few seasons now and I think they will struggle again this season despite the large gap between themselves and Randers as I expect a good second half of the campaign for Randers.

Midtylland have played three games since returning from the winter break and have been superb in all of them, winning twice and drawing once. They’ve scored six times and conceded just twice. Midtylland claimed a 2-2 draw at home to high-flying OB Odense but have won their last two games consecutively at home to Aalborg BK and away to Silkeborg – two difficult games – so they’re certainly playing well at the moment. Midtylland have already won six out of eleven home games this season despite it not being their best season so it’s fair to assume that they’ll be a force in this game too, particularly with momentum supporting their cause.

Visitors SonderjyskE have lost five out of eleven away games this season, which isn’t incriminating but does show that sides have to work hard to break them down. Only Randers have scored less goals in the Superligaen than SonderjyskE so it’s fair to say that SonderjyskE are very much a “stopper” side rather than an advocate of the beautiful game. SonderjyskE have had a tough run of games since returning from the winter break but have claimed credible results at Brondby and OB Odense although neither side were on-fire at the time. SonderjyskE were brought back down to earth last match with FC Copenhagen winning 2-0 at SonderjyskE so they should be prepared for more of the same today against an in-form Midtylland. SonderjyskE simply aren’t as good a side as Midtylland and I expect that to show tonight.

You won’t often see odds as short as this as a recommended value bet on this site but I feel that it’s real value when measuring up the two sides as Midtylland really should be at least 1/2 to win this game – they’re by far the better side – don’t let a bad season put you off backing what should be a very clear home win tonight.

Verdict: Midtylland to win at 8/11.
