Today’s free tip is the Swiss Challenge League encounter between FC Wil and SC Kriens.
So now Dzonlagic is out too, huh? I’m by no means a religious man, but if there is a God, then he hates SC Kriens. They had a legitimate shot at promotion (which in itself is baffling enough) and then, just after the Covid-19 break, SC Kriens were torn apart by mysterious forces!
I mean, what convinced Siegrist to leave SC Kriens at this stage of the season, I don’t know. Had he moved to Germany or Italy, then I could understand it. Instead, he’s joined a team in the division below whilst his current team still try to get to the Super League. Confused? That makes two of us. He was their best attacker too.
What else? Midfield veteran Kukeli is still out, and has been for a bit now. Most of their regular defenders are still out too – Mijatovic, Fanger, Fah – and Elvedi is reportedly a big doubt for this game too. Midfielder Costa is still out – he’s a regular. And now, one of their top scorers this season in winger Dzonlagic, is also out. You just can’t make this stuff up, can you? Credit must go to SC Kriens because they’re still battling hard in each fixture but it speaks volumes that the only team they’ve beaten lately has been Chiasso!
They’ve got a semblance of attack left with the Tadic-Asumah ‘understanding’ and Follonier in midfield. That’s literally it though. Their defence is a pile of burning wreckage, and their consistency in front of goal is gone too. I doubt anything would truly dampen SC Kriens’ spirits, but their effectiveness just isn’t there. As much as I like their plucky nature and tactical flexibility, I can’t help but feel that their squad is not capable of winning tonight because of absentees.
FC Wil have no excuses for failing to at least draw this match. They’ve only got doubts over Brahimi! Furthemrore, they’ve got Super League players in their squad, even if they are getting on a bit. Muntwiler falls into that category, for example, and so does Duah. Top-scorer Fazliu is fit, and veteran striker Silvio still has just about some idea of the shape of a football, which is always helpful. It’s a shame he’s opted to be more of a creative force up front than a goal-getter; I thought he looked very good as their designated poacher when he joined.
There’s enough about FC Wil for them to win tonight though; that’s the point here. They’ve got access to Super League level players, and they’re up against a decimated squad. I may not trust the FC Wil defence much either, but they’re in a far stronger position to win this match than the bookies have appreciated here.
Therefore, I’m on FC Wil with draw no bet at 83/100.
