Today’s secondary featured game is the English Premier League game between Stoke City and Newcastle United.

Stoke City have been a feared side to face away from home ever since they came to the Premier League. They’re very well-organised, physically strong, and very determined. I admire Tony Pulis because he’s one of very few managers in the Premier League who can genuinely say that his team gives 110% per game, irrespective of who they’re facing. That makes Stoke even harder to face, in my view. They’ve bolstered their squad pre-season, adding a great deal of depth to their team, and their defence looks incredibly strong, both in depth and in quality. The only aspect of Stoke’s team that could use some improvement is midfield, in my view, but let’s not jump the gun here – they’ve not been in the Premier League for that long! Credit to them, though – they’re a nightmare to face on the road.

Newcastle have been truly amazing this season. I had them down as relegation candidates this year given their complete lack of attacking power but massive credit must go to Pardew and co. because they’re playing good football and deserving the results that they’re getting. However, it has to be said that they’ve had a fairly easy run thus far and this is quite a big test, really. Stoke away is never an easy game for any side, let alone an over-achieving Newcastle side. I think Newcastle’s new players have bedded in well but they’re up against it at the Britannia tonight. Newcastle will no doubt give their all but there’s seldom more than one winner at the Britannia.

For me, the hosts have to be given a shot here at 11/10. Stoke are always a threat at home and have a much deeper squad than Newcastle. I anticipate a tight game but Stoke winning this one appeals to me for obvious reasons.

Verdict: Stoke City to win at 11/10.
