Stromsgodset vs Brann Bergen
FreeBefore I begin today’s preview, I’d like to extend a large finger in the direction of Keflavik after their disgraceful conceding in the last minute at home to Stjarnan Gardabaer last night. I’d also like to remark just how fortunate Inter Turku are that FC Honka Espoo are inept defensively on occasion else they’d have come away with nothing yesterday!
Anyway, onto the clash in the Norwegian Tippeligaen tonight which sees a woeful Stromsgodset entertain the ever-unpredictable Brann Bergen. Brann Bergen are a side I refer to as a “betting nightmare” because they win games they shouldn’t and lose games they shouldn’t, all at equally disastrous moments. Due to the hosts having only recently been in the Tippeligaen in the last two years, there isn’t much head-to-head information that will reveal a lot. Brann Bergen won here 4-2 in 2007 but lost here 2-0 last season. As I said though, I’m always nervy about backing Brann Bergen, particularly in a game like this because they should win it. The hosts are in dismal form and look to be heading back to the Adeccoligaen after only 2 years out of it whereas Brann Bergen are looking to push for a European place after a disappointing campaign last year. The visitors don’t have a particular strength home or away this season, lending even further proof to my theory about this side being a better nightmare but the hosts get all of their few points at home, which to me says this game will be a draw. The hosts’ need as many points as they can get and they’re going to have to dig deep to escape their current rut whereas the visitors will swan into this game on the back of 2 victories which ultimately spells despair for them given their ridiculously unpredictable nature. Summarised; my call is 1-1 but I’d advise you to steer clear from betting on this game barring taking both sides to score in the game because it has been that way in all four of their encounters over the last two years at either stadium.
