Featured game

Pecsi MFC vs Kaposvari Rakoczi – home win at 5/6.

Today’s featured game is the Soproni Liga game between Pecsi MFC and Kaposvari Rakoczi.

Pecsi MFC continue to impress me week after week with a string of consistently efficient displays. I have doubts in my mind over the longevity of their current standard as they don’t have the depth to maintain it but their current starting eleven is good and that must be taken into consideration here. They’re yet to lose at home during their current campaign, winning three times and drawing twice in the Soproni Liga already. They’ve got a good manager in Meszaros and an experienced team to boost, not to mention in-form attacker Horvath. Although they do tend to concede a token goal during their home games, they’ve generally not more than enough to win their respective games and that’s ultimately what I expect from them here.

Helpfully, a large portion of my confidence comes from Kaposvari’s lack of ability this season. They’ve won just one Soproni Liga game this season and would you believe it – it was at home against reigning champions Fehervar back in July! No, despite the best efforts of in-form Serbian attacker Peric, this side is struggling and I sense that they’ll continue to struggle without some heavy investment as they just don’t have the necessary quality left in their team any more. They’ve played four away games in the Soproni Liga this season, losing all four and shipping ten goals along the way. The visitors are resilient but little else so I expect a tough game for them here.

Pecsi MFC got a bizarre 4-4 draw from the tough trip to Paksi SE last match so their momentum is continued. The visitors have sprung a couple of surprises this season but all at home and realistically speaking, their form should not improve by the end of this game against a well-organised and frankly dangerous Pecsi MFC.

Verdict: Pecsi MFC to win at 5/6.

Additional game

Malaga vs Getafe – home win with -1 Asian Handicap at 11/10.

I’m not entirely sure why these odds are so generous but I’m happy to climb aboard.

Malaga aren’t the finished article yet; they still need to finish much better than they have been doing and to be more consistent with their creativity. However, they’ve been winning games and with all the quality that they now have at their disposal, it’s no surprise at all that they’re rapidly improving, especially under excellent Chilean boss Manuel Pellegrini. Malaga have already played two and won two at home in the Primera Liga this season, keeping clean sheets in both games whilst scoring five goals. Malaga can go up another gear, as I mentioned earlier, but even their current gear should allow them to at least win this game.

Visitors Getafe have lots of new faces, too. However, they’ve not adjusted anywhere near as well yet and subsequently Getafe have already lost three out of five Primer Liga games. They’ve lost two out of two on the road, which is of no surprise as Getafe are notoriously bad away from home in Spain. They’ve been lacking in a consistent goal threat and are struggling for momentum following a poor start to the season. Getafe’s form will improve eventually – the quality they’ve got should enforce that. However, I don’t forsee it being evident in tonight’s game.

Therefore, the home win with a -1 Asian Handicap at 11/10 interests me a lot here as I don’t see Malaga not winning the game.

Verdict: Malaga to beat the -1 Asian Handicap at 11/10.
