Featured game

Universidad de Chile vs Cobreloa – home win with -1 Asian Handicap at 5/6.

Today’s featured game is the second leg of the Primera Division final between giants Universidad de Chile and over-achieving Cobreloa. The first leg ended 0-0, which to me means that they’ve lost now, barring a miracle.

Cobreloa have no option but to attack here. The chances of Universidad not scornig at home are next to none with so many talented attackers in their ranks. They’ve sold Vargas, admittedly, although I believe his last game for Universidad will be tonight. There’s so many attacking options in this squad that it’d be somewhat unusual to see them not dominate someone at home. They’re unbeaten at home in this half of the season, winning seven out of their nine home games whilst averaging scoring nearly three goals per home game. They’re the most potent side in Chile and the newly-crowned Copa Sudamericana champions will no doubt want to please their fans by claiming the double by winning tonight. Cobreloa haven’t been a match for them for some time now, losing six out of their last seven visits here. In fact, Universidad have beaten Cobreloa by two goals or more in five out of their last six home wins against their Atacama-based opponents and I think we’ll see another resounding victory for the hosts here. Cobreloa have done really well this season, to their credit. They were strong defensively and clinical in front of goal but they don’t have the firepower to match their hosts and you know that they will concede goals here. Cobreloa will have to abandon their defensive shape to try and get a result here and that’s when the hosts should strike.

I’ve got a 3-1 scoreline in my head but my call remains the -1 Asian Handicap at unbelievably generous odds of 5/6 when you consider that the hosts must win, they’re by far the better team, and score goals for fun. At the minimum I expect the bet to result in a “push”!

Verdict: Universidad de Chile to beat the -1 Asian Handicap at 5/6.
