FreeOut of interest, why were all the games in this league played on sunday as opposed to being split over saturday and sunday? That was a little confusing.
A large congratulations to Barcelona and Liverpool for overwhelming victories against difficult opposition. Barcelona’s victory, coupled with Real Madrid’s victory, means that the Spanish Primera Liga is starting to take a very familiar shape with a mouthwatering run-in as the two sides have to meet yet at the Bernabeu with the gap currently only 6 points. Liverpool’s victory means that Manchester United’s lead at the top has been cut to a point with the champions having a game in hand. This run-in has also become extremely interesting with Liverpool piling on the pressure and Manchester United taking a few blows at the same time and I’m sure the international break can’t come soon enough for some of those players. I have to give my dues to arch-rivals Liverpool though – I’ve never seen them play as resiliently as they are currently playing – they’ve normally faded into nothingness by now. We also cannot write off Chelsea, who despite their weekend defeat, have notched up an impressive run of wins under wily manager Guus Hiddink.
