There are no games today worthy of a heavy stake – approach with caution!

Today’s secondary featured game is the UEFA Europa League encounter between Wisla Krakow and Fulham.

I like Wisla, especially at Reymonta, but the problems that they have at the moment are there for all to see. Genkov’s return has been pivotal to their attack and it showed in their 3-1 win against Jagiellonia Bialystok at weekend. However, that’s a weak Jaga side – now they face a good Fulham side so things aren’t ideal. I’m referring more specifically to Wisla’s problems in wide positions with both Malecki and Melikson out for this game. Kirm is a suitable Ekstraklasa replacement but for the UEFA Europa League, I doubt he’ll be effective. Reymonta is not an easy venue but Wisla do have various injury issues here, including captain Sobolewski, and given their inability to defend from set pieces, I fear for Wisla here.

For me, Fulham have a good chance of doing well here. They’re not a special side by any stretch of the imagnation but they’re well-organised and do have attacking threat. Fulham are very experienced in this competition nowadays and it usually shows, too. I think Fulham have enough ability to take advantage of Wisla’s important absentees today, to be blunt.

It should be a tight game – Fulham are never great on the road. However, 6/5 on the away win does appeal to me so that’s my call here.

Verdict: Fulham to win at 6/5.

Thursday’s Picks

My tips:

As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:

Malmo FF vs Metalist Kharkiv – away win at evens.

Eh, Metalist Kharkiv’s away record speaks for itself. They’re a good football side – they keep the ball well, they take their chances, and they keep sides out. Malmo have had some good displays in Europe this season but they’re not a great side. The pitch is supposedly in terrible condition, which won’t help, but Metalist are a better and more experienced side than Malmo at this level and with a full squad available to them, the away win looks likely to occur here. Additionally, take into account that this is Malmo’s fourth game in seven days – they don’t have the squad for that! I respect their three 1-0 wins a lot but if they think they can rotate against a good side like Metalist then they’re going to get a surprise here. For me, there’s value on the away win here.

Verdict: Metalist Kharkiv to win at evens.
