Zico…
Free…has been named the new manager of CSKA Moscow in Russia. Whereas this is probably not very interesting to the majority of people, it does capture my attention somewhat. Zico certainly has an uneviable task taking over from Valery Gazzaev, who resigned at the end of this season, as the Russian had guided CSKA to their first ever European trophy by winning the UEFA Cup in 2005. What made this victory particularly impressive was that their victory was against Spoting Clube de Lisbon, who were in fact hosting that particulary final. Zico, however, isn’t trophy-shy himself, having guided Fenerbahce to success in Turkey for 2 years prior to the move. With CSKA’s wealth and large influx of Brazillian footballers, I feel it’s only a matter of time before Zico can take this club to the next level.
