Even without Liverpool-bound Keita, I am struggling to doubt RB Leipzig’s credentials here, particularly given Koln’s difficult situation.

My main concern with RB Leipzig, as ever, is that they only tend to turn up for one half. I don’t know why they do that, but they do. I’m not concerned by their defeat against SSC Napoli earlier this week; anybody who read my preview on that game knows precisely why the visitors won that one. It wasn’t a shock to me. It’d be a shock if RB Leipzig failed to make their superiority count against Koln today though.

Helpfully, Swedish attacker Forsberg is getting near to his brilliant best once more and with options like Bruma, Werner, Poulsen, and Kampl in the mix too, I don’t see a good reason to doubt the home team. They sometimes play brilliant football and sometimes look rather unconvincing but they do tend to have that typical German efficiency about them, at least when it comes to the Bundesliga. Beating Koln convincingly shouldn’t require more than that right now.

Draws are no longer of use to Koln; they need to go for wins. That’s how bad their situation is. Unfortunately for them, doing that here is verging on suicidal because of how good their hosts are. Even the return of Bittencourt from injury isn’t magically going to make things better for the visitors here. Indeed, their new “hero” Terodde is a doubt for this game so this game could be even worse for Koln today.

Let me be quite clear on something here though. I do not doubt the attitudes nor work-rate of Koln’s players. They fight hard in each fixture I see them in. However, they lack quality in almost all areas right now for a variety of reasons so good teams are managing to beat them. Koln find it especially tough on the road, as per usual, and I don’t see why today’s game would be any different, even if they are in better condition than their hosts fitness-wise.

To me, it’s worth taking RB Leipzig to beat the -1 Asian Handicap here.

Verdict: RB Leipzig to beat the -1 Asian Handicap at 23/25.
