Today’s free tip is in the Swedish Allsvenskan game between IFK Norrkoping and Malmo FF. I wasn’t going to go near what should be a very close encounter here until I saw the team news.

Basically, Malmo FF only have three proper strikers – Strandberg, Antonsson, and Rosenberg – and their most important two (Strandberg and Rosenberg) are both absent tonight. As much as their owner might exchange cryptic comments with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the press and a potential return to his boyhood club, the Swedish legend is not there now so Malmo FF have problems to address because Antonsson alone is not enough to trouble IFK Norrkoping tonight.

Malmo FF are playing really well at the moment, admittedly, and are desperate for points to try and do their typical “Malmo FF thing” by starting the season atrociously and bouncing back late in the day to try and secure the title they believed they’d already won before kicking a ball. They might even manage it; who knows? I doubt it, though.

Malmo FF do have good creators in their squad, although the continued absence of Molins is far from ideal. Rieks, Christiansen, and Traustason, not to mention Lewicki, make for a very solid midfield though. They’ve got good, adventurous full-backs too, Malmo FF. On paper, this team should be competing for the title but until recently, that didn’t look like happening. Unfortunately for Malmo FF, they need to dig deep here because a draw simply won’t cut the mustard. They’ve got to win this game. If they don’t, I think they can kiss their Allsvenskan title hopes goodbye.

That desperation gives IFK Norrkoping the upper hand here, I feel. They’re more than good enough to sit back, soak it up, and wait for their opportunities on the break. IFK Norrkoping are a very flexible team like that. Furthermore, they’ve got a great deal of cohesion and quality in their squad; do not underestimate them!

They’re not as good as Malmo FF, IFK Norrkoping, but they sure do look like they are on a pretty consistent basis because of Gustafsson’s tactics. Moberg-Karlsson and Holmberg are decent but neither are great strikers but they play their parts well in this squad. Skrabb’s drifting, the unlocking of Thern’s forgotten potential, the unexpected signing of classy Fransson, and the undying Johansson keeps IFK Norrkoping fresh and dangerous whilst the natural workmanlike mannerisms and focus of the team keeps them from conceding many. This is an IFK Norrkoping side that looks rather complete, and I believe Malmo FF’s necessity for points tonight coupled with their absent personnel really gives the hosts a great opportunity to make a statement here, and I don’t see them passing up on that opportunity.

Lastly, IFK Norrkoping use artificial turf at home; Malmo FF do not. That makes more of a difference than you may think. To me, it would be a surprise to see the visitors pick up three points here. It would not be a surprise if IFK Norrkoping were to “do a job” on them though. My call is the home win with draw no bet cover.

IFK Norrkoping to win with draw no bet at 9/10.
