Today’s secondary featured game is the “friendly” between Singapore and Malaysia. As it happens, I’m not too sure that these two sides are capable of playing out a “friendly” as they detest one another and that makes this game a bit more intriguing.

Both nations have arisen quite a lot over the past few years, becoming harder and harder to beat. The support of both nations is unquestionable with a lot of football fanatics living in both countries and that only adds to the intensity of this derby. As far as quality goes, you’d probably have to side with Malaysia here although there’s not much between them.

The last meeting between these two sides ended 5-3 but things have changed since then. Circumstances have forced Singapore into changes, changes that have left Avramovich with only two fit strikers to choose from. He bizarrely overlooked veteran Duric and with Amri, Annuar, and even Nawaf all ruled out here, Singapore find their options a little restricted as far as goalscoring goes. They’re happy enough to welcome back vice-captain Harun (especially in the absence of captain Ishak) and also holding midfielder Jiayi, which helps them stop Malaysia from breaking them down so easily. As far as winning the game goes, though, it’s hard to see Singapore doing so today without an excellent display. Malaysia have some gifted players in Idlan and in-form Chanturu, for example, and they could make the difference here. I’d still not touch it though, to be honest – you can count the number of times on one hand when these type of games end in away wins and I won’t be taking unnecessary risks here with that in mind.

However, I do fancy under 2.5 goals at evens. Both sides look strong enough in their respective areas to cancel each other out and with Singapore missing attacking options, you have to feel that under 2.5 goals is well worth a punt at good odds.

Verdict: Under 2.5 goals at evens. Why not bet on this game now at William Hill?
