Adios Aguirre!

We bid “adios” to Javier Aguirre as the Mexican relinquishes his control of Atletico Madrid. Why? Well, Spanish sides aren’t notorious for their loyalty to managers, especially Madrid sides. I mean, take a look at Vicente Del Bosque, who was sacked from Real Madrid for failing to win the Champions League, even though he won the Primera Liga? Seems a little harsh, don’t you think? So Atletico Madrid have moved Aguirre on after some poor results and appointed former player Abel Resino as boss. Why is this a strange decision? He’s unproven as a manager in the Primera Liga. Still, it seems to be the trend in the Primera Liga of late. Pep Guardiola is now the boss of Barcelona with zero Primera Liga experience. The same applies to Mauricio Pochettino and Espanyol. The former has proven a great success after an uncertain start and the latter has yet to make a lasting impression. Either way, I am confused, especially after Atletico Madrid’s superb season last year. Still, I’m not stupid enough to comprehend the ways of Spanish management so I’ll just mention it and acknowledge in ahead of the weekend’s games.
