Today’s secondary featured game is the UEFA Champions League Qualifier between BATE Borisov and Debreceni VSC in Belarus.

BATE Borisov are a very experienced side in this competition. They’ve been in it every year for quite some time now. However, they’re suffering a little ahead of this game with Baga, Gutar, Renan, Polyakov, Scherbakov, and Aleksiyan all in England for the Olympics. Admittedly, only four of them are regulars but it’s enough to upset a side that prides itself on its efficiency. I admit to being quite fond of BATE but they demonstrated against Vardar Skopje how vulnerable they can be at the back, especially without Polyakov and Gutar in their ranks. Renan and Baga damage their attacking game with their absence but the recent signing of Aliaksandar Hleb should ease those worries, if indeed he’s eligible to play today. BATE are good enough going forward to score goals but their defence is struggling and I think they’ll have another tough test today.

Debreceni VSC disappointed during their trip to Albania to take on Skenderbeu Korce in the last round of fixtures but promptly woke up in the return leg, smashing their opponents with a convincing scoreline. That led them into a dominant 4-1 win against title rivals Gyori ETO FC at weekend so confidence is high in their camp and why not? They’re capable of getting a result here and they’ve got the experience to do it. They’ve got the firepower, too, so I wouldn’t list this as a clear home win, which many are.

For me, this should be a tight game but an interesting one at that. I think it’ll be difficult to pick a winner but taking both sides to score at evens looks a very interesting bet today.

Verdict: Both sides to score at evens. Why not bet on this game now at William Hill?
