Today’s secondary featured game is the A PFG game between newly-promoted Botev Vratsa and general mid-table side Minior Pernik.
I don’t like going against newly-promoted sides on their own turf at the start of the season because they’re usually keen to impress and appreciative of the fact that they only take points at home. However, I’m going against Botev today because they look in a really bad way right now and I don’t think Minior Pernik are the kind of side to ignore the opportunity to take advantage here.
Botev have played five games in the A PFG this season and have already lost four of them. Indeed, the only side that they’ve taken points off is Svetkavitsa, who were promoted this season with them, so their record is far from impressive thus far. They’re a young side, Botev, with their highest-profile player being Branimir Kostadinov, whom you may recall from a brief stint with Hearts. The pacey hitman is one of the few recognisable names in a rather youthful and inexperienced Botev side and indeed, that’s what counts against them, really. In their games this season, Botev have tried to play attacking football but a lack of experience and ability has hindered them massively, hence their lack of success. You can accept them losing 3-0 at Levski Sofia and even 0-1 against Cherno More Varna but losing 2-4 against Montana at home is unacceptable and if that’s what is going to happen whenever they’re trying to take points at home against a side that they conceivably can take points off then they’re in for a long season.
Minior Pernik aren’t a side that I’ll often back away from home but with the experience at Stoev’s disposal, I have to give them a shot here. Unlike their hosts, not only are Minior Pernik experienced but they have match-winners in the form of Ton, Trajanov, Okechukwu, and Brahimi in midfield. I find fault in Minior Pernik’s ability to put the ball in the net, to be honest, with their best striker being the average Bibishkov. However, their midfield is strong enough to win them games and they’re playing a side that is weak in defence so I’ll give them a chance here. What I will say about Minior Pernik’s displays this season is that they’ve been solid at the back with even the better sides that they’ve faced this season struggling to break through. Tsvetkov and Hristozov know the score; they’ve been around a long time, so I’m sure that they can keep Kostadinov and co. at bay today.
I suppose the big question is whether Minior Pernik can score here or not. They’ve not managed to score in their past two games but they’ve faced good sides. Minior Pernik are facing an inferior side today and should really keep a clean sheet. With that in mind, I don’t forsee them losing this game barring a very bad display but I’m happy to take a chance on them capitalising on weak defending from the hosts. Therefore, the away win with draw no bet cover interests me today.
Verdict: Minior Pernik to win with draw no bet at evens.
