Today’s secondary featured game is the Serie A game between Corinthians and Palmeiras.
People are falling over themselves to back Palmeiras here but I’m not entirely sure why. Corinthians look to be having a tough time in Serie A right now on the face of things but you have to appreciate that that’s because they’ve been forced to use some of their “B” team as their main focus has been the Copa Libertadores. Indeed, Tite may shuffle the pack again here following their game against Santos earlier this week but bear in mind that this is a big derby; Corinthians won’t use all of their “B” team here for that reason. Corinthians are a very good home side and are not only good at preventing sides from scoring but also manipulating possession so I expect them to put up a good show here.
Helpfully, Palmeiras are absolutely awful! I don’t care what recent statistics show about their form etc. they’re a woeful side that can only score goals from set pieces, if that. This side has no good strikers and only a handful of good midfielders. Much like their hosts, Palmeiras can be a tough nut to crack but unlike their hosts, Palmeiras lack that ruthlessness in front of goal. They’ve already lost two out of two on the road in Serie A this season and given that they’ve lost three out of their last four games against Corinthians whilst scoring just once during that time, you have to feel that the odds dropping on Palmeiras is a shade confusing here.
Don’t get me wrong; I wouldn’t take this bet without draw no bet cover on the basis that I don’t know for sure which players Tite will utilise. However, there’s not a side in Brazil that I wouldn’t take Corinthians to beat at home with draw no bet against with the proviso that at least some of their first-team plays. For me, the value is on Corinthians with draw no bet against their rather predictable opponents.
Verdict: Corinthians to win with draw no bet at 4/5. Why not bet on this game now at William Hill?
