Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

Today’s secondary featured game is the Allsvenskan encounter between Elfsborg Boras and GAIS Goteborg. This two sizes ooze goals and I expect more of the same today.

I rate Elfsborg Boras as the strongest side in Sweden at the moment given how the transfer market has treated title rivals Helsingborg and Malmo FF. However, there’s still very little in it and every point counts. That said, I’m not falling over people trying to back Elfsborg at 6/10 here because they’re playing one of the few sides capable of matching the number of goals that they score. On artificial turf, Elfsborg are masters so they really should win this one but with their samba defending, I’d not bank on it here. However, their firepower is good with Elm and Nilsson being supported by gifted playmaker Anders Svensson. Hell, winger Hult has been great this season and Hiljemark and Larsson have both been impressive too so Elfsborg definitely have goals in them. Elfsborg have gone over 2.5 goals in ten out of eleven home games this season and I see nothing to make me change my mind on that happening today too.

Visitors GAIS Goteborg are even weaker at the back than Elfsborg are but they share a similar level of firepower despite the summer sale of Alvaro Santos to Helsingborg. They’ve gone over 2.5 goals in six out of their last eight away games because of their abject defending but lethal finishing. Attacker Wanderson is one of the best players in Sweden and he continually shows it for GAIS Goteborg. Hot prospect Celik up front has been in great form this season too, as has Cameroonian attacker Bassombeng and Bolivian midfielder Ayarna so I can see GAIS scoring at least once here. Defensively, though – they’re always at sixes and sevens and on artificial turf, that’s not going to change here. GAIS have kept one clean sheet away from home this season and that was at rock-bottom Halmstad.

For me, this game is going over 2.5 goals, barring a miracle of some description!

Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 4/5.

Monday’s Picks

My tips:

As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:

Inter Turku vs FC Honka Espoo – FC Honka Espoo to score over 1.5 goals at 13/8.

Inter Turku have looked a bit lazy and perhaps jaded of late with some very unconvincing displays, including a game just two days ago in central Finland against KuPS Kuopio, losing 2-1 to their ten-man opponents. Inter Turku still have terrific attacking options in Furuholm and Ojala, not to mention Jonke, but their motivation and fitness look questionable. Let’s be realistic – their defence has been shocking this season and I don’t think that’ll change today, particularly as it’s a very “must win” game for them if they have any hopes of catching HJK Helsinki. They’ve got the firepower to do the job but will they? I’m not so sure. Honka have improved lately since signing ex-Tampere United attacker Petrescu, who was one of Finland U21’s stars a few years ago before disappearing into European football. He’s back with a bang, however, and he’s improved Honka’s attacking prowess, lessening the reliance on Demba Savage, helpfully. Dudu is back and Honka are starting to look like their old threatening selves again. They’re yet another side with zero concept on how to defend and not enough experience in their backline but they know how to find the net and they’ve looked far better at scoring goals on the road than they have at home this season. For me, 13/8 looks very generous on backing Honka to score at least two goals here and I’ll happily take that one on board today.

Verdict: FC Honka Espoo to score over 1.5 goals at 13/8.

Varnamo vs Osters – home win at 6/5.

This is a derby so be careful but I do fancy the home win nonetheless. Varnamo simply have the best player in the Superettan in Viktor Claesson and it shows in every game, hence Elfsborg Boras having agreed to sign him for next season. Their defence isn’t great but their attack is with youngsters Sadiku and Ring also showing promise so I fancy them to penetrate what is a very solid Osters defence. The visitors aren’t good in front of goal but they are hard to break through. However, there’s a handful of players in this division that I believe are capable of doing it and Claesson is one of them so for me, 6/5 is worth a flutter today.

Verdict: Varnamo to win at 6/5.

Accumulator fodder:

CSKA Sofia, Sparta Prague, HJK Helsinki, Atvidaberg, Fenerbahce.
