Faroe Islands vs France
FreeWithout a doubt this game is the most interesting I’ve backed as my main bet. I have my doubters but I’ll win you over!
This game between Faroe Islands and France is a World Cup Qualifier, so it does have importance. Needless to say that Faroe Islands are not planning on reaching the next round and despite France’s intentions to do so, they’re looking rather feeble and suspect, particularly when Franck Ribery doesn’t bail them out. See, France aren’t anywhere near as good as they used to be, not by a long shot. They’ve no real penetration any more, no real alternative to their hazy style and they concede a bit too easily for my liking. I mean, take this statistic, for example: France haven’t scored more than one goal in a game in their last six games. They just seem to be getting worse, at least in my eyes. Faroe Islands, interestingly, haven’t conceded more than two goals in a game for their last six games, which is fantastic for them, particularly as one of those games involved a very difficult trip to Serbia. Taking Faroe Islands with +3 goals at 10/11 looks very tempting on the above information. The only point I’d emphasise caution on is that France have annihlated Faroe Islands on their past two meetings, both games reaching five goals or more. However, that was in 2007 – what you see now is the remnants of that team and I seriously doubt their finishing is clinical enough to surpass this handicap.

Azerbaijan vs Germany – away win with -2.75 handicap at 10/11. Pretty self-explanatory, really! Germany are too good for the Azeri side. The hosts can be resilient and may keep it at 0-2 if they’re lucky but I’d be surprised if that occurred – Germany are too relentlessly efficient to let this slide.
Slovenia vs San Marino – home win with -4.75 handicap at 13/8. Could a game need less introduction?! Slovenia are more than good enough to break this handicap against lowly San Marino.
Mexico vs USA – home win at evens. This is a very interesting game between two evenly-matched sides. Mexico need the points more than USA given the current group standings and are well-placed to do so as USA have proven to be poor travellers with all the points they’ve dropped thus far in this group having been on the road. Their record is actually two away games, one draw, one defeat. Consider that they were also annihlated 5-0 by Mexico 1-2 months ago in the final of the Gold Cup and also that USA lost the last time they played a World Cup Qualifier here and you have a home win on your hands. Evens for this game is a real bargain although do expect the odd red card – the hosts don’t enjoy playing with 11 men on the field!
Iceland vs Slovakia – away win at 11/8. Iceland have been disappointing lately in my eyes. They’re one of only a few International sides that I consider to be currently on the decline. They’re decent at home and will make Slovakia work but the visitors are very much in the ascent and have more than enough firepower to win this game. I’d emphasise a little caution due to it only being a friendly but an away win here is a very realistic possibility, particularly when the odds are an intriguing 11/8!
Estonia vs Brazil – away win with -2.75 handicap at 13/10. It’s a friendly, but the quality between the two nations should see the scoreline easily beat the handicap, even if Brazil haven’t been their best of late! Estonia just don’t have enough to compete here, I’m afraid!
Colombia vs Venezuela – home win at 4/5. I can’t fathom these odds at all. Fair play, Venezuela had a fairly heroic result in their terms by winning emphatically at Bolivia lately but they’re still one of the worst two international sides in South America, along with Bolivia, funnily enough! Colombia might be playing one of the few sides that won’t be too affected by the height above sea level but they’re still a lot, lot better than Venezuela. The hosts have won their last four home games in a row in all competitions, and won them comfortably. Nobody likes travelling to Colombia for an away game, club or international side. Venezuela aren’t good enough to get anything here. A home win at 4/5 is a real bargain!
