Today’s secondary featured game is the Estonian Meistriliiga encounter between Flora Paide and Viljandi. This game should be anything but a classic between two very defence-minded sides but there should be some value in taking under 2.5 goals here as a result.
I can’t really blame either of them for deploying such tactics, to be honest. Defending is what they’re good at and there’s at least six sides in the Meistrliiga better than they both are. However, defending will get them draws and considering Ajax Lasnamae and Kuressaare are in the division, neither side should be relegated by gaining mere draws as the two afore-mentioned sides are really, really poor sides and should ultimately be relegated.
What we effectively have here is two sides that are afraid to lose this game. Flora Paide have a defensive record at home that only three out of the top four sides in the country can better and Viljandi’s defensive record on the road has exactly the same boast. Viljandi have scored one goal away from home this season but conceded just three times and that’s despite facing reigning champions Flora Tallinn along the way. Viljandi vigilantly battled to a 0-0 draw at Flora Tallinn, in fact, thus demonstrating how stubborn and tenacious they can be away from home. Do Flora Paide have what it takes to break through? Not for my money. They’ve battererd Kuressaare at home already this season but aside from that, they’ve only scored in one out of their other three home games, although I would admit that they’ve been tough games.
Remove shitty Ajax Lasnamae from the Meistriliiga equation and we have the two lowest scoring sides in the Meistriliiga locking horns here. Both are battling hard to aviod defeat and both will want to take something from this game. I’d not touch the 1×2 market here because anything could happen but with the above in mind, under 2.5 goals at 11/10 looks a decent value pick here although I have to urge some caution as most players from both sides have played together at varying clubs and that can occasionally throw a spanner in the works!
Verdict: Under 2.5 goals at 11/10.
