Today’s secondary featured game is the Soproni Liga game between Pecsi MFC and Diosgyori VTK.
Both sides are left with a fairly satisfied feeling following their respective promotion last season but their battling side also has a tint of regret with both sides having played well enough to compete for the UEFA Europa League places.
Diosgyori went downhill with the pressure of being a “big side” but the sacking of boss Benczes certainly didn’t improve matters. They’re still a good side at the core, especially from a technical perspective, but are lacking a bit of motivation at the moment with nothing left to play for. That said, they gave a good account of themselves against Debreceni VSC recently and should do so again today with their future boss in the stands for this game. Their hosts aren’t one to lie back and take it, though. Their goalscoring tally isn’t as good as it should be but they’ve scored in two out of their last three home games, including a game against Fehervar, so don’t be misled into thinking that they’re just cannon fodder.
Both sides are in a bad run of form but both have the capacity to play an open game. There’s no pressure on either side here, per se, and sometimes you could be forgiven for thinking that would send a game under 2.5 goals. However, in my opinion, there’s enough motivation on the side of the visitors to make them force this game into an over 2.5 goals game. Pecsi don’t like losing at home and the visitors want to make something happen here so the potential is there, in my view.
Both sides have defended poorly of late, which is no doubt down to some fatigue as Pecsi MFC in particular have a very limited squad. Diosgyori VTK aren’t doing well at the back and with goalkeeper Rados and regular defender Gal both out today, it’s hard to see them playing he perfect “win to nil” game. The odds on the away win are tempting but I’d much rather opt for over 2.5 goals at 4/5, to be honest.
Side-note – most bookies have wisely dropped the odds to around 7/10 or 3/4 here. However, Pinnacle Sports have yet again left their odds up around 4/5, which is puzzling and amusing. Whether this bet wins or not, I find odds of 4/5 on there being over 2.5 goals a good bet today.
Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 4/5.
