Ruch Chorzow vs Arka Gdynia

The hosts overachieved last year but are still a decent side despite that. Whereas I don’t think they’ll reproduce the form that they showed last season, I do think they’re more than good enough to beat lowly Arka Gdynia, who have now lost two on the bounce, one of which was to bitter rivals Lechia Gdansk, a side who also battled against relegation last season. This is sure to have left a bitter taste in Arka Gdynia’s mouths because they’re already looking weak due to it. Ruch Chorzow have won and lost a game, losing to reigning champions Wisla Krakow before overcoming Piast Gliwice last match. Their additional quality and momentum should really see Ruch Chorzow do something today that they didn’t manage last season – overcome lowly Arka Gdynia at home at 9/’10 are good odds to see it happen at!

Central Coast Mariners vs Newcastle Jets – home win at 5/6. There aren’t many games today that take my fancy. However, this game in the A-League looks very promising when you consider Central Coast Mariners’ impressive start to the campaign with a win at reigning champions Melbourne Victory. Despite Newcastle Jets having also won their opening game (albeit at home to Wellington Phoenix), they’re still one of the poorest sides in the division. Central Coast Mariners have also won this encounter the last two times it’s been played, both home and away last season. For those reasons, I’m surprised a home win is listed at 5/6 and I’d certainly recommend taking advantage of these odds whilst they’re available.
Leixoes vs Belenenses – home win at 10/11. It’s the first game of the Liga Sagres this year and last year’s surprise package Leixoes are hosting almost-relegated Belenenses. This game is very interesting to me because if you look at the season prior to last, these two sides had their roles reversed. There’s not that much between them but as I’ve said before – sometimes you have to ride the wave when betting and that’s what I’m doing today by backing a home win at 10/11. Do approach with caution because it’s the first game of the season and the hosts don’t like scoring goals and may be a little rusty. Expect under 2.5 goals too!
