Today’s secondary featured game is the Veikkausliiga encounter between Jaro Pietarsaari and FC Honka Espoo.
Honka have demonstrated even more than ever this season that they cannot defend and the fact that they managed to concede at home to a VPS Vaasa side that not only doesn’t travel well but also missed the only decent strikers that they possess completely backs that fact up. They’re still a good attacking side, of course, but their defence is shambolic. They unfortunately miss Savage today, which is a blow to their attack, of course. However, Dudu is a good striker and Varynen will give him the ammunition he needs to score so I’m not concerned about them scoring here. I fully expect Honka to concede though, as per usual – that’s just what they do. Strangely enough, Honka tend to play better away from home than they do at home as has been indicated by a dominating display at HJK in their last away game (although they lost 2-1), a 2-4 win at TPS Turku, and a 2-2 draw with JJK Jyvaskyla. I’d never underestimate Honka, although their poor level of consistency this season means that they’ve burned my betting slips many times this season that I almost feel like I’m overestimating them!
Jaro’s attack looks better now that Georgian attacker Sirbiladze has joined the club, forcing Zeze and Niang to work harder to stay in the team. Perhaps it’ll aid Zeze’s temperament issues too – if he keeps losing his head then he won’t play! Nevertheless, there are goals all day long in those three attackers and it’s shown a lot lately ala their 3-3 draw at JJK Jyvkaskyla and their 4-0 win against IFK Mariehamn. Jaro don’t have a good defence or good midfield but they do have a good manager and an excellent attack which is finally paying dividends. Three out of Jaro’s last five home games have gone over 2.5 goals in the Veikkausliiga – why not this one too now that their attack is even strongr than before?
I’d not touch the 1×2 market here as no result would surprise me. However, I consider it as something of a “banker” that both sides will score in this game (cue the 0-0 draw!) and thus going over 2.5 goals at 4/5 naturally appeals to me a lot as both sides are only really strong when attacking.
Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 4/5.
