Today’s secondary featured game is the Primera Liga game between Malaga and Racing Santander.
Although I’m not a big fan of Malaga, I am a big fan of going against Racing Santander and this looks like the opportune moment to do so. Generally speaking, Racing are actually one of the better Primera Liga sides when it comes to defending away from home. Not many sides have it all their own way against Racing when Racing play the way that they prefer to play. However, that luxury is not within their grasp for this game as they need points and only three points will suffice. Relegation is a very real possibility for the northerners and thus they’ll have to adapt their game tonight to try and get some points. The big problem is that they’re horribly bad when it comes to scoring goals. They don’t create enough chances and don’t score enough goals, which spells disaster, ultimately.
Racing possess the cohesion that Malaga would love to have but Malaga possess the players that Racing need to have. Malaga have a lot to learn about breaking sides down away from home but when it comes to playing in Andaluscia, Malaga do know how to beat sides. Let’s face it – on paper, they’ve got one of the top six squads in the league so you’d realistically have to expect them to do well here, especially with so many options at the disposal of coach Pellegrini.
Therefore, my tip is for Malaga to beat the -1.5 handicap today. Ironically enough, if this game was earlier in the season and thus of less consequence then I’d not give this tip as Racing are very frustrating to face when they don’t have to attack. However, they do have to attack and I think Malaga should enjoy a comfortable home win as a result.
Verdict: Malaga to beat the -1.5 handicap at evens.
