Monday Approaches…

…And which of you claims bragging rights for work?! I think Liverpool fans have a good shout of being top of the pile for claiming bragging rights this weekend with a splendid 1-0 victory at Chelsea. As a Manchester United fan, I’m happy to see this for two reasons:

1. Liverpool never hold their title challenge in the Premiership, which is why they’ve never won it (with a lack of quality too I suppose!) so them beating Chelsea aids us significantly.

2. I’m sick to death of hearing about Chelsea’s 100% home record for 4 years or something, a title they’ve not earned by playing good football but by being boring.

So that’s a good reason to be cheerful. That said, I’m still annoyed about Manchester United’s unnecessary draw at Everton when the game should have been over with in the 1st half. However, RoPS claimed a good win at KuPS and Athletic Bilbao put in a good performance at Real Madrid (despite losing) so the weekend was somewhat mixed for me.

Game Of The Weekend

This award without a shadow of a doubt has to go to Villarreal vs Atletico Madrid. The home side found themselves surprisingly losing 2-0 to 10-men at half-time. They shot straight out of bed in the 2nd half however, scoring 3 goals in 20 minutes to lead 3-2, before adding to that to make it 4-2. The game must have appeared to be over to Villarreal fans and who could blame them? We’d all be the same in that position. However, Atletico Madrid had other ideas, scoring 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to finish the game with a credible but bizarre 4-4 draw. I think it’s fair to say that both sides can take more negatives than positives from this gripping encounter!
