Today’s secondary featured game is the Allsvenskan game between Orebro and Kalmar FF.

Times haven’t been good for Orebro with a weak defence and temperamental attackers causing them no end of issues. They’re currently at the foot of the Allsvenskan table with no wins from seven games and thus morale is slowly ebbing away from this team. The signing of Grahn at least gives Orebro some experience and leadership and boy do they need it! They’re not without quality, Orebro, contrary to what the Allsvenskan table suggests. Indeed, Rama, Grahn, Daniel Bamberg, and emerging striker Atashkadeh are all dangerous players to play against. The absence of Saied won’t aid Orebro’s cause today and the same applies to the continued absence of striker Haddad. However, however Orebro’s games end, they do tend to end up scoring goals and that’s what I expect from them today. Orebro aren’t easy to play against on their artificial turf at the Behrn Arena but the gaping hole left in their defence ever since the sale of Almeback nearly a year ago means that Orebro won’t end many games this season without conceding. Therefore, I expect Orebro to contribute to a lot of over 2.5 goals games and this is one of them.

Kalmar FF tend to struggle on the road and that has been the case so far this season. However, they’re scoring more goals than I expected to with the link-up between Daniel Mendes and Dauda up front becoming strong rather quickly. Kalmar have to cope without Dauda today as he’s absent but Mendes is good enough to capitalise on weak Orebro defending, in my view. In fact, Kalmar have quite a number of players out with erratic goalkeeper Berisha and Finnish defender Arajuuri both joining Dauda on the sidelines. Berisha hasn’t been at his best this season anyway but the absence of Arajuuri only adds to Kalmar’s defensive problems and thus I expect them to concede here. Kalmar don’t like it when sides work hard against them; their only saving grace might be that Orebro are dejected and thus may be lazier than normal so it’s anyone guess as to which side triumphs here.

You can make an argument for or against either side winning this game and thus I’d prefer to avoid that betting perspective entirely. However, taking over 2.5 goals appeals to me as Orebro really need a win and Kalmar aren’t too different in that sense. The window of opportunity is there with defensive mistakes/problems a-plenty and both sides are goalscoring sides when it suits them. For me, over 2.5 goals is worth taking at 6/5.

Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 6/5.
