Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

Today’s secondary featured game is the Copa America Semi-Final between Peru and Uruguay. I can almost hear the muttering and grumbling about a tip being posted in this competition due to some rather strange results so far but this one still takes my fancy today.

You may really that these two sides met earlier in the competition and drew 1-1 in a rather droll encounter. Well, if my memory serves me correctly, Uruguay were about 1/4 or 1/3 to win the game. Now that the tournament has progressed and we’re at a later stage, Uruguay have somehow gone out to 4/5 to win the very same game! Now, unless Peru have loaned Messi (somehow!) for this game then I do not understand that swift change of odds one bit!

Peru have done well in this tournament solely because they’ve defended well. They’re not a dangerous attacking side whatsoever and although I admire their tenacity and organisation, they’re very weak on the quality front and I think it should finally show today. Uruguay are late starters – you may recall them getting better as time went by at the World Cup in South Africa – and they’re beginning to show what they’re capable of. They were well-organised against Argentina and I doubt they’ll make the same hideous mistakes here as they did to allow Peru’s Guerrero to score in the first meeting between these two sides. Uruguay’s firepower far, far outweighs Peru’s and just a glimpse of that should be enough for the superior Uruguayans to win this one, in my view. Don’t get me wrong – it won’t be easy as Peru are confident and have nothing to lose as they’re far exceeded expectations so far – but Suarez, Cavani, and Forlan have more than enough to break through here, especially with the likes of Rodrigez, Pereira, and Lodeiro supporting them.

For me, there’s a lot of value in Uruguay beating Peru at 9/10 tonight. They should be about 1/2, in my view, so the odds are worth a punt whether the unpredictable results of the Copa America continue or not! I do think Uruguay will win the tournament though, and a win against bitter rivals Argentina in their own backyard propelling Uruguay into this game gives them the biggest mental boost that a side could ask for!

Team news – Uruguay miss Perez.

Verdict: Uruguay to win at 9/10.

Tuesday’s Picks

My tips:

As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:

Ekranas Panevezys vs Valletta – over 2.5 goals at 9/10.

This is a very, very interesting game. When the game was drawn, I had Ekranas as dead certs to win the game overall and progress due to their experience and ability. However, Valetta made a very interesting signing about two weeks ago by acquiring probably the best Maltese forward of the past decade – Michael Mifsud. I’m sure most of you have seen him playing in England in the last few years and he’s always been impressive with his work-rate and pace. However, at thirty years old, he’s still playing below his level here and I’d make a case for him being probably the best player on the park here. That does change things, really – Ekranas are still the better team but Valetta now have an attacking option that Ekranas are not really good enough to contain, which wasn’t the case before that. You can see that from the first leg, which ended 2-3 in Malta.

Therefore, I think we’ll see more goals here. I do expect Ekranas to progress but I think it’ll be a lot harder than normal for them due to pacey Mifsud, who bagged in the first leg of this tie. I think Valletta will score at least once here and thus Ekranas are going to have to attack and score goals to progress.

Normally, I’d be going under 2.5 goals due to the way Ekranas like to dominate and control games, usually winning with narrow scorelines. However, there’s a new factor here and I cannot see Ekranas containing him and therefore over 2.5 goals at 9/10 interests me a lot.

Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 9/10.

Accumulator fodder:

HJK Helsinki, BATE Borisov, Wisla Krakow.
