Today’s secondary featured game is the English Premier League game in Wales between Swansea City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Although I’ve often been put off by Swansea’s lack of a prolific striker this season, I’m going to take a chance on them winning this one with ease today. As far as passing goes, Swansea are a top six side, in my eyes. They play the ball around beautifully and are an absolute nightmare to get the ball off. Just because a side doesn’t have world-renowned footballers doesn’t mean that they can’t play world-class football and that’s often why Swansea are underestimated. True, the season is wearing on and there will be some tired legs in their camp. However, they’ve got a really excellent midfield and plenty of creativity so why not take them to do the business in front of their passionate fans agaist a side that they’re head and shoulders above quality-wise? There’s plenty of bodies getting forward for each attack and plenty of variation in their attack since the signature of Sigurdsson so I’m happy to give Swansea the benefit of the doubt here.
Visitors Wolves are just going from bad to worse and who can blame them? They’ve got a clueless manager, they’re now officially relegated, and they’re simply playing awful football. The spirit of the team has all but gone and this side can barely form a presentable attacking move nowadays, let alone score. It was solely down to City’s laziness that Wolves nearly got back in the game against them when they frankly should have been out of sight by half-time. Wolves have only got a couple of players that I would class as “match-winners” and it’s hard to see them being at their best in a redundant game with a demoralised squad alongside them. With goalkeeper Hennessey still out with an injury, it’s also hard to see a problematic and erratic Wolves defensive line doing anything but conceding goals here.
For me, this game is all about Swansea and how much they want it. I expect them to dominate possession and ultimately win the game. Whether they beat the handicap or not should depend on how early they score the first goal but the insurance should be activated either way. Therefore, Swansea beating the -1 Asian Handicap at evens appeals to me a lot today.
Verdict: Swansea City to beat the -1 Asian Handicap at evens.
