FreeMy apologies for lessened previews for today’s games. My reasoning is purely impatience/anger as I’ve done them at least twice now and my fucking computer keeps deleting them, much to my frustration, so I simply don’t have the time to write longer ones.
Sunday’s Picks
My tips:
Rosario Central vs Boca Juniors – away win at 5/4. Rosario Central are a tricky side to play against for most sides, particularly when at home, but having now lost three in five games, it’s clear to see things aren’t going as well as they were. Boca Juniors have won four in five now and momentum complimenting talent tends to be a dangerous combination. Verdict? Away win a 5/4.
Palmeiras vs Corinthians – home win at 19/20. This is a big derby in Brazil so do approach with caution. However, Corinthians are a poor away side with just three away wins all season and have scored less goals away from home than any other side in Serie A. Palmeiras have struggled lately but a 4-0 win against Goias has set the ball rolling – just in time too, as they have to win this game to keep the pace with Sao Paulo. The home win at 19/20 looks good today, especially as they hosts have to win and generally do in this fixture.
Nautico vs Sport Recife – home win at 21/20. Both sides are in a fierce relegation battle and need as many points as possible. Nautico have won two of their last four games whereas Sport Recife are unbeaten in four games. I expect a closely-fought game here with plenty of cards but Nautico’s impressive home form vying with Sport Recife’s atrocious away record spells a home win at 21/20.
Kladno vs Teplice – away win at 5/6. Teplice have won three of their last five games and are unbeaten in the Gambrinus Liga this season. They’re currently topping the table and will look to further that today against lowly Kladno. The hosts are beginning to look like the relegation candidates that they usually are with seven defeat in twelve games, no wins in their last three games, and two straight defeats lately. Teplice aren’t a great side but they’ve got more than enough to win this game at 5/6.
Randers vs Silkeborg – away win at 6/4. Although on a run of two games without a win, Silkeborg have still been playing well and I expect that to show today, particularly as they’re placing what is unanimously the worst side in the Superligaen currently – Randers. They’ve not won any of their thirteen games so far this season and that looks unlikely to change against surprise package Silkeborg. Although this should be a close game, the away win at 6/4 looks tempting today.
Esbjerg vs FC Copenhagen – away win at evens. Esbjerg’s frailties have shown quite a lot lately with just one win in three games. The reason for this is simple; they’re not good enough to be where they are. However, fair play to them, they’re getting the results so they deserve their place. However, they’re hosting the true champions of Denmark today – FC Copenhagen. The visitors have won five out of their last five and will look to continue that record today against the challengers to their throne. FC Copenhagen simply have a better team than Esbjerg and have looked a lot more reliable of late than their hosts. Verdict? Away win at evens.
Birmingham City vs Manchester City – away win at 4/5. A no-brainer as there’s a big quality mismatch here!
Cardiff City vs Nottingham Forest – home win at 5/6. Both of these two sides have played well lately but only Cardiff City are capable of maintaining their good run as they boast a very good squad indeed. Interestingly, Nottingham Forest are the only side left in the Championship unbeaten away from home but I expect that to end today with the quality mismatch on show. Cardiff City have won four of their last five games and no other Championship side has scored as many goals as they have. This should be enough to defeat a fairly average Nottingham Forest side at 5/6.
OGC Nice vs Le Mans – home win at 10/11. The win against Olympique Lyonnais last match will have done OFC Nice a lot of good in terms of momentum. They’ve now won two games out of three and will be looking to make it three out of four against one of the few Ligue 1 sides still below them – Le Mans. The visitors have lost every away game in Ligue 1 this year and have only scored once away from home. Therefore, the home win at 10/11 looks likely today.
Sporting Clube de Lisboa vs Maritimo – lay Sporting Clube de Lisboa at 13/8. Although Maritimo traditionally have a horrendous record against Sporting Clube de Lisboa, you also have to bear in mind that the hosts haven’t been as poor as they are now for some time either. They’re simply not playing good football and are not scoring enough goals. The visitors have won their last two games and have some good momentum from those wins too. Maritimo are one of the better sides in Liga Sagres and I expect them to cause enough problems here today to not lose the game so laying Sporting Clube de Lisboa at 13/8 could be a good call today.
Feirense vs Gil Vicente – home win at 11/10. Feirense are top of the Liga de Honra with four wins from seven games. They’re unbeaten at home and average scoring over two goals per game at home currently. They’re one of the better sides in this division and whereas their form isn’t as consistent as they’d like, it should be enough to overcome a Freamunde side that have lost three of their last four games. They’ve also lost two of their three away games this season. Therefore, 11/10 on the home win could be a very good bet indeed today.
FC Poli Timisoara vs Steaua Bucharest – home win at 13/10. Tough and ultimately very low-scoring game. Steaua Bucharest haven’t scored at FC Poli Timisoara since…well, since Jesus was around, I guess! FC Poli Timisoara are notorious for being strong defensively and that shouldn’t come into question today against a Steaua Bucharest that are being kept alive by two Colombians – goalkeeper Zapata and attacker Moreno. The visitors are looking a lot worse for their losses over the past 12-24 months whereas the hosts are looking very strong, particularly with the impressive Bucur up front. For me, the home win at 13/10 shows the best value in this game although taking under 1.5 goals at whatever odds you can find also looks a good bet for what should be a rather dull encounter between two very good sides.
Real Mallorca vs Racing Santander – home win at 3/4. Real Mallorca are rapidly becoming the Gods of home wins with four wins from four games, three goals scored per game on average at home and just one goal conceded along the way. They’re a horrific side away from home but massively reliable at home – at least for the present! Racing Santander are a funny side that are capable of upsetting the bigger sides but against sides like Real Mallorca they tend to struggle. That said, they are unbeaten away from home this year so it should be an interesting game but the hosts have more than enough quality to unlock the Racing Santander defence at 3/4.
Deportivo La Coruna vs Sporting Gijon – home win at 17/20. Some deceptively flattering results of late leaves us with these bountiful odds which are sure to be valuable because Deportivo La Coruna are simply too good for Sporting Gijon. They’ve already won three from four home games and have won four of their last five games overall. Sporting Gijon claimed a tenacious win away to an out-of-form Athletic Club de Bilbao and then clung on to a 0-0 draw at home to Real Madrid but haven’t really impressve with their actual football. The hosts today can play football very well indeed so 17/20 on the home win looks a good bet today.
IFK Goteborg vs AIK Solna – home win at 6/5. What a massive game this is! The last day of the Allsvenskan and IFK Goteborg have to beat AIK Solna to win the Allsvenskan title! If they fail to do so, the title belongs to AIK Solna. IFK Goteborg have the better squad but AIK Solna are extremely efficient and generally rather boring. However, what has swayed me is the impressive home form of IFK Goteborg as they’re unbeaten at home this season, they’ve won eleven of the fourteen home games they’ve played, and they average nearly three goals scored per home game. Although AIK Solna are one of the Allsvenskan’s better away sides, I just don’t think they’ll be able to work their magic today on a very good and determined IFK Goteborg. Watch this game at all costs but ultimately the value is in the home win at 6/5.
