Atlantas vs Suduva Marijampole – over 4.5 goals at 7/5.

Today’s featured game is the Lithuania A Lyga encounter between newly-promoted Atlantas and giants Suduva Marijampole.

Atlantas were relegated a couple of seasons ago due to financial problems and they may well be heading the same way if things continue as they are. As you’re probably aware from a cursive glance at the A Lyga table, Atlantas aren’t a very good side. Furthermore, they’re a terrible side and they’re likely to be relegated whether they try to avoid it or not. However, things are even worse than normal at the moment because the players are refusing to train due to a strike of sorts over not being paid. This has gone on for some weeks now, hence their results (2-4 against Tauras Taurage, 0-5 against Mazeikiai, 8-1 against Zalgiris Vilnius, and 1-3 against Klaipeda). The only bit of fortune that Atlantas have actually had is that they’ve only really played one good side in that list and that’s Zalgiris Vilnius and you can see what happened there. The fact is that Atlantas have lost three other games aside from that that they could potentially have taken points from and it’s now left them with seven defeats in nine A Lyga encounters so relegation is a very real possibility, one way or another.

Unfortunately for Atlantas, I think their luck is about to run out as they’re hosting the second-best team in Lithuania – Suduva Marijampole. They’ve actually struggled in a couple of games lately when it’s come to finding the net so this should be the perfect game for them to wake up and rediscover their goalscoring potential. Note that they’ve played three away games in the A Lyga this season, winning all three without conceding a goal and atypically, I’d think this would be a fourth consecutive clean sheet away from home. However, after Radzius was dismissed last match against Zalgiris Vilnius, the experienced defender misses this game and thus Suduva lose their leader in defence, which is a bit of a problem. Therefore, there is a possibility Suduva could concede here, especially as their defence hasn’t been as watertight as normal of late.

All of the above information points to one very interesting bet indeed; overs. Three out of Atlantas’ last four games have gone over 4.5 goals with the other game having four goals in it. Considering that they’re playing a side that is four or five times better than they are without having trained properly for it makes me think we could witness a massacre here. Heavy handicaps interest me but I can’t see any odds for them at the moment so I’ll leave it for now. With no Radzius at the back, the possibility of Suduva conceding here is present but the possibility of them scoring at least five goals is another possibility. Therefore, I’m going to try my hand at over 4.5 goals at 7/5.

Team news – Suduva Marijampole miss Radzius.

Verdict: Over 4.5 goals at 7/5.
