Vejle-Kolding vs AB Copenhagen – home win to nil at 15/8.

Today’s featured game is the Danish 1st Division game between Vejle-Kolding and AB Copenhagen.

Since the union of both Vejle and Kolding pre-season, this club has actually looked very solid. Everything from the board to the backroom staff to the displays on the field have been very much worthy of praise as this side continues to grow is stature and strength. They play efficient football, rarely conceding goals as a result. Experienced Kim Olsen is leading their line and with bags of experience tinged with emerging talent such as Andersen, it’s hard to have anything but optimism regarding the future of this “new” club. The only sides to beat them this season are the two sides expected to be promoted at the end of the season – Esbjerg and Randers respectively – which is fair enough, really. However, many are tipping Vejle-Kolding as the “dark horses” and you can see why, really – they’ve got a lot of what they need to be a success. In four home games this season, Vejle-Kolding have scored ten times and conceded just once so to label them as a threat at home would be accurate!

Visitors AB Copenhagen are a big side and should have been promoted by now but it’s proven as simple as that for them, really. Their attack is too weak for them to be promoted, in my view, and as spirited as they are, they sometimes need that cutting edge in front of goal that they just don’t have. We made some money on them beating Skive last match, sure, but Skive can’t defend, hence the bet. Away from home, AB Copenhagen have done better than they have on their own turf due to their counter-attacking threat but this is a very tough Vejle-Kolding side to face – I’m not confident enough in AB Copenhagen’s ability to break through their defence here, to be honest. AB Copenhagen remind me of Arsenal sometimes – plenty of decent passing but are often lacking in front of goal. AB Copenhagen have plenty of players with potential but not that many lingering with experience, which makes this game even harder, in my view.

I’ll give AB Copenhagen their due respect – they’ve been around a long time and know how to be a pain. However, Vejle-Kolding have really impressed me so far this season and I think they can claim yet another composed win today. Let’s face it – at odds of 15/8, it’s not a dead cert but it’s definitely worth a punt!

Verdict: Vejle-Kolding to win to nil at 15/8.
