Getafe vs Racing Santander – home win with -1 Asian Handicap at 4/5.

Today’s featured game is the Primera Liga game between Getafe and Racing Santander.

Despite their horrendous showing aganist Mallorca, I’m going to give Getafe another chance today. They’ve got more than enough good players to make it count and they do tend to show up at home. I expect Pedro Leon to be back in the starting eleven for this game, which massively helps ther creativity and attacking theat. Getafe are a good passing side and should be able to emulate Real Sociedad’s display from the weekend against Racing Santander here. It’s not too often that you’ll come across a side in the Primera Liga that is so much worse than the rest but Racing Santander fit that criteria when Marcelino isn’t at the helm. What I like about Getafe is that they’re secretly good at defending – well, at least by Spanish standards, anyway! Before their 1-3 defeat against Mallorca, only Barcelona had conceded less goals at home than Getafe have this season so you can see that they have more to their squad than just a few good passers of the ball. Generally speaking, Getafe are an impressive and efficient unit and I’ll always respect them in their home games. They’ll want to give something back to the fans following the horror show against Mallorca and this is the perfect time to produce it, in my view.

Opponents Racing Santander are just going from bad to worse. I watched their trip to Anoeta at weekend and although they did work hard, they simply didn’t function whatsoever. I thought they were quite good until Sociedad got the first goal but as Racing always do, they completely capitulated after conceding. Racing still caused a few problems at the other end of the field but failed to remotely capitalise on every occasion. At one point, a free shot was blazed over from inside the box and that sums Racing up, really – the movement is there, the work-rate is there, but the quality and the confidence are not. I maintain my point that Racing can defend when opportunity allows but they’re not in the right frame of mind to do that now with the Segunda Liga staring them in the face. Attack-wise, Racing are by far the worst side in the league and I’d be surprised to see them score here, let alone get a good result.

For me, 4/5 on Getafe beating the -1 Asian Handicap is a steal today. Getafe should have more than enough ability to break through Racing a few times and as long as they score the first goal early enough then we should have a winner here.

Verdict: Getafe to beat the -1 Asian Handicap at 4/5.

Additional tips:

I’ve no further tips but only because odds aren’t available on Siauliai vs Atlantas in Lithuania. I expect Atlantas to carry on improving and although Siauliai are a good side, they’re not an especially prolific side. I expect a 0-0 or 1-0 scoreline so giving Atlantas a +2AH or +1.5EH is very appealing here, as are the unders.
