Today’s secondary featured game is the UEFA Europa League game in Iceland between Urvalsdeild heavyweights FH Hafnarfjordur and Swedish giants AIK Solna.

The first leg of this tie ended 1-1, which leaves it on the knife-edge overall as AIK are considered by many to be the better side. I’m not too sure, personally. I mean, Swedish football is ahead of Icelandic football but there’s not as much in it as people tend to think. Indeed, that’s applicable for all the Scandinavian top flights, in my view.

AIK could have and should have scored more goals in the first leg but that’s the story of their campaign, really – they don’t score enough goals. They’re fortunate to be facing a side that traditionally doesn’t defend well on the continent, though, and thus the flair players that AIK do have (albeit a small number) should have plenty of room to operate. Tactically speaking, AIK are the better of these two sides and that should be enough to see them go through. Whether they actually will progress or not I don’t know, though – I really wouldn’t touch that market.

Out of the two sides, FH are the more experienced in Europe over the past few years. They tend to be able to find ways to trouble their opponents more easily than most as a result, which is precisely what I expect from them in this game too. AIK’s main weapon is their solid defence but not only did FH not have any trouble against it in the first leg but AIK simply can’t sit back here; they have to outscore FH (unless it gets to a high-scoring draw) or they’re out of the competition. AIK typically do not react well in situations that force them out of their comfort zone so I’m intrigued to see how they play here. FH may be able to hold leads easily enough in Iceland but against European sides, I’d be surprised to see that happen.

Despite AIK’s reputation as a side that doesn’t score goals, I do think that they’ll score goals here as they’ve got enough of what it takes to upset FH in this game. However, their hosts rarely leave games without scoring and they’ll have something to say about the outcome. For me, there really should be value in taking over 2.5 goals at 5/6 today.

Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 5/6. Why not bet on this game now at William Hill?
