Tigre vs Newell’s Old Boys

Unfortunately for Tigre, they’re hosting a very much in-form Newell’s Old Boys today. I don’t rate the visitors amongst the best in the league but they’re certainly better than Tigre from any perspective. Newell’s Old Boys have won an impressive seven games from their opening eleven, winning three from six away from home on a run that has seen them lose just once. Unlike today’s hosts Tigre, Newell’s Old Boys are scoring goals and with the additional bonus of conceding very few goals, you have to appreciate that they’re a threat for any opponent in the Primera Division at the present time. With three consecutive wins now Newell’s Old Boys have tremendous momentum entering this game with everything going right for them and everything going wrong for their hosts today. The outcome of this game surely has to be the away win at 11/10.

Mantova vs Brescia – home win at 6/4. This is a risky call but one I am quite fond of because Brescia are drastically under-performing currently. Brescia have been woeful away from home this season anyway but four defeats in their last five games leaves Brescia in a very difficult place indeed. They’re not conceding an excessive amount of goals but they’re just not scoring enough goals. They’re only managed one away win in five away games this season and I can’t honestly see that changing today. Mantova are far from a good side but they’re a difficult side to play against, something which is illustrated perfectly by their home record of five games played, one win, three draws, and just one defeat. They’re on a two-game unbeaten run and concede very few goals at home, making it even less likely that Brescia will score. Mantova, however, have scored in every home game they’ve played this season barring their first game of the season, which was a 0-0 draw with Triestina. The last piece of information that persuaded me to take the home win was the fact that Brescia have only beaten Mantova once in their last nine meetings at either ground. To me, this says lowly Mantova have a good chance of winning this game and it’s got to be worth a punt at 6/4.
